题型:不详难度:来源:
Many people find exams frightened experiences. Sit down for an exam when
everyone is so quiet and serious really makes people nervous. In order to overcome
that, I always do few things to relax after I start. At the beginning of the exam, I
read out all the directions carefully so that I can know exactly how I have to do.
Then I work out how many time I can spend on each question and make sure I keep
to my timetable. If I feel myself getting nervous at any time, I will stop what I was
doing and take a few deep breath. However, I think the most important thing is to
review my work thoroughly before exams. The better I’m prepared, the more
worried I will be in exams.
答案
小题1:frightened → frightening
小题2:Sit → Sitting
小题3:... do few things to ... few前加a
小题4:... after I start. after → before
小题5:... I read out all the directions ... 去掉out
小题6:... exactly how I have to do. how → what
小题7:... work out how many time ... many → much
小题8:... stop what I was doing ... was → am
小题9:... take a few deep breath. breath → breaths
小题10:... the more worried ... more → less
小题7:time当时间讲,是不可数名词,故用how much。

Vauban We know cars are terrible polluters, but would you give yours up? Vauban, a community in southwestern Germany, did just that, and its 5,000 citizens are doing fine. Most streets are free of vehicles, and there are generous green spaces and good public-transport links, including fast buses and bicycle paths. When people must drive, they can turn to car-sharing clubs. “All the citizens had the chance to plan their own city,” says Andreas Delleke, an energy expert, “and it"s just how we wanted it to be.” | Denmark During the period of gas shortage in the early 70s, Denmark decided to become self-sufficient ( 自足). So they began a few projects making smart investments along the way. On the island of Samsoe, local families, fishermen and farmers bought wind turbines (涡轮机) to produce their own energy. Within seven years these turbines were completely paid for. And can you believe just one of wind turbines produces enough electricity for 600 households? |

Trey Parker and Matt Stone Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park, have built a sustainable castle with outer siding and inner flooring of recycled wood, recycled carpeting, high-efficiency boiler systems. “I think more and more today, people are willing to make a statement about the Earth and how they want to protect it,” Michael Rath, home designer and builder says. "For high-end homes in this valley, this is entirely consistent with what they cost." | P-NUT Who doesn"t love the name P-NUT—short for Personal-Neo Urban Transport? It"s Honda"s latest attempt to create a tiny footprint for a new urban vehicle. This little P-NUT is unique. With a central driving position, the car is designed to move in tight settings. The 11-foot micro car will seat three with two rear-seat passengers behind the driver. “The P-NUT concept explores the packaging and design potential for a vehicle designed for the city lifestyle,” said Dave Marek, a Honda design Spokesman. |

Israel Company Is it possible that annoying rush hour traffic could become a source of renewable energy? Israel"s Technion Institute of Technology claims that if we placed special generators ( 发电机 ) under roads, railways, and runways—we could harvest enough energy to mass-produce electricity. A trial process has been used on a smaller scale, in dance clubs for instance, where the pounding feet of dancers light up the floor. "We can produce electricity anywhere there is a busy road using energy that normally goes to waste," said Uri Amit, chairman of Israel"s Technion Institute of Technology. | Coffee Coffee. Some of us can"t start our day without it, and we don"t mind waiting 10 minutes in line for it. Here is the most effective tip to make you a superstar in environment protection. Get a coffee machine for your home or office, or persuade your company into buying one. Every one of us can make a great efforts to cut off the use of energy in our country. To begin with, all of us can start reducing to the use of oil by driving only when you have a real need. That won"t be easy, but we have to start anywhere. What"s more, we can go to work by bike once and twice a week, and we can also buy smaller cars that burn more oil. Other way is to watch our everyday use of water and electric at home. For example, how many times have you walked out of a room, leaving the lights when no one’s there?
No wonder that man in Munch’s The Scream is screaming. He keeps getting stolen. The famous painting went 1 in 1994 and again ten years later, both times from museums in Norway. 2 , security was extremely poor. Officials thought the painting was so famous that it wouldn’t be stolen. Wrong.
The world of art theft is not, as one might think, populated with intelligent persons who have a fine appreciation of art. Art thieves are thugs(流氓), according to a new book by Charley Hill. Hill was an undercover policeman 3 job was to track down stolen paintings. He says that the people who steal 4 were usually stealing wheels from cars a few years earlier. He describes priceless Vermeers being stuffed 5 the back of cars, Gainsboroughs being passed around by drug dealers with dirty hands and a nasty end to one of Henry Moore’s huge sculptures. The bronze, King and Queen, a 6 by Moore, was too heavy for the thieves to move, so they took out a chainsaw and cut off the heads, thinking those might be worth something.
The artworks usually turn up, sometimes many years 7 , though the police don’t always catch the thief. Even rarer is when a gentleman thief—one who steals art for personal pleasure only—is caught. In 2009, a waiter, Stephane from Switzerland, 32, 8 (find) guilty of stealing 69 artworks from museums since 1998. He told the court he did 9 for the love of art. His haul (赃物) was 10 over $1 billion—not bad for a waiter.

Seat belt use is required by law for all passengers, and child car seats must be used by children under 40 pounds. Some provinces require drivers to keep their vehicles’ headlights on during the day and some have banned (禁止) driving while using a hand-held cell phone.
