My baby Rob, the youngest of my three sons, was starting kindergarten. I had already 36 this twice before, but this time it was more difficult.
What if he was scared? What if he missed me? I decided to do the grown-up thing and not tell him how I 37. I assured him that 38 would be just fine.
The night 39 school started, Rob and I sat down. I hugged him and asked if he had any questions about what he could expect tomorrow ... “I’m 40 excited, Mommy, but I’m a little 41 about what I should do 42 I miss you,” he said sheepishly (胆怯地).
I had just the 43 for him.
I 44 my hand and showed him a new, shiny penny. “This is a 45 magic penny. If you’re scared or if you 46 me, just put your hand in your pocket and 47 this lucky penny. 48 you hold it and 49 me, I will know and be thinking about you , too.”
It was absolutely 50. I’d be thinking about him every minute.
The next day as he 51 his schoolroom, he looked back at me. My baby looked so sure of himself. I smiled back at him and hoped that he didn’t see the 52 in my eyes.
The hours moved slowly but finally it was time to pick him 53. “I had a great day!” he 54. “There were a few times I was worried, but I held on to my lucky penny and that made me feel better.”
After about a week I found it on his dresser. I guessed he was secure enough in his new situation that he didn’t 55 it anymore.
I, on the other hand, kept it in my pocket for a few more days.

Computers are helpful because they offer a wide range of functions and services that are not available anywhere else. There are four main uses: word processing, Internet/ communications, digital video/ audio composition, and desktop publishing.
The word processing capabilities of computers are amazing. They can automatically correct your spelling and grammar mistakes. The cutting and pasting features are incredibly simple and very useful for revision. Having a digital backup is an added benefit. All of these things help writers get the job done. With desktop publishing, you can create page layouts(页面布局)for entire books on your home computer.
The Internet is one of the greatest inventions created by humans. It is a huge network of computers, each with the ability to contact any of the others. Vast amounts of information can be found on the Internet. It is the ultimate form of media, a combination of newspaper, radio and television. Using the Internet, any two people anywhere can communicate for free, whether it is by text or voice. New uses are being found for the Internet every day.
Audio/ video editing and composition have been made much easier by computers. Cutting and pasting no longer involve using scissors and tape on large reels of film. It no longer costs thousands of dollars of equipment to make a film or to compose music. Now musicians can compose their own songs and publish them without having to obtain a record contract. Film-makers can produce work from their own homes. Anybody who owns a computer can now enter the field of media production.

Before coming to France, I always thought that French people wear formal clothes. But, when I arrived in Paris, I came to know why France could remain the lead in world fashion and Paris could attract so many designers from all over the world to come.
On the boulevard of Champs-elysees, there are many fashion shops of famous brands, such as Chanel, Dior, Pierre Cardin. In daily life, however, most of Parisians never wear clothes like those on the super models. On the opposite, I found people in Paris often dress in very simple designs and usually in dark.
Such situation doesn‘t affect French designers to create more and more new styles. But I would say people in Paris dress more formally than those in the rest of France. In other French cities, what people wear are usually casual dresses, such as T-shirts and jeans.
French people act as the fashion leaders, but they accept other clothes styles as well. Montpellier, the city I live in, is in southern France near the Mediterranean Sea. Here are many immigrants(移民) from Algeria, Morocco and other African countries. The Arabian and African cultures are influential(有影响的) in this city. Therefore, you can find a lot of young people dress in the North African style.

3. The underlined part “boulevard of Champs-elysees”possibly is .
A. a name of a famous street in Paris B. a name of a famous person in Paris
C. a name of a famous city in France D. a name of a famous brand in France
