This friday is the day of Lidong.It means the beginning of winter.Lidong is one of the 24 Jieqiof the solar year in the Chinese calender.
Anicent people divided the year into 24 Jieqi.One Jieqi lasts 15 Days.People divided the year according to the position of the Earth in relation to the sun.The Jieqi show changes of season and climate.Farmers work out their farming schedules based on Jieqi.All the 24Jieqi have meaningful names.four mark the start of the seasons,such as the beginnings of spring,summer,autumn and winter.
Some describe phenomena of climate.for example,the WaRing of Insects marks when the spring thunder awakens hibernating insects.
