解析
小题1: A
小题3: A
解析 regard...as...
解析 作者原来以为男朋友的父亲很冷漠,而现在却“...feel he is a caring man through the glass.”
解析 根据下文“...when I answered the phone.”
小题7: A
解析 根据上句“But one day,I thought about my father’s success in business and realized that his concern for my financial security lay behind his ____ morning calls.”
解析 根据前半句“When my social style has conflicted with that of my friends...”
解析 “She wasn’t a good friend!”
解析 “My anger ____ as the holidays approached.”与“But then...” “But then...”
小题17: A
小题18: A

“Any old papers, lady?” asked one of them.
I was busy. I wanted to say “no” until I looked down at their feet. They were wearing thin little sandals (凉鞋), wet with heavy snow.
“Come in and I’ll make you a cup of hot cocoa.”
They walked over and sat down at the table. Their wet sandals left marks upon the floor. I saved them cocoa and bread to fight against the cold outside. Then I went back to the kitchen and started cooking.
The silence in the front room struck me. I looked in. The girl held the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice, “Lady, are you rich?”
“Am I rich? Pity, no!”
I looked at my worn-out slipcovers (椅套). The girl put her cup back in its saucer (茶碟)carefully and said, “Your cups match your saucers.” They left after that, holding their papers against the wind. They had reminded me that I had so much for which to be grateful.
Plain blue china cups and saucers were only worth five pence. But they matched.
I tasted the potatoes and stirred the meat soup. Potatoes and brown meat soup, a roof over our heads, my man with a regular job, these matched, too.
I moved the chairs back from the fire and cleaned the living room. The muddy marks of little sandals were still wet upon my floor. Let them be for a while, I thought, just in case I should begin to forget how rich I am.

We know that Gary suffers from a , which makes it almost impossible for him to his movements. As a result, he will his life in a wheelchair. He cannot write with a pen or a pencil, and speaks so slowly and strangely that it takes to understand what he is saying.
However, behind his appearance, Gary is a warm, fun-loving, intelligent person. His disability affects his muscles, not his mind or . He enjoys the same things as any student does—listening to music, making and so on—and he is not only the best student in our class, but also has a sense of humor and genuine interest in other people.
The main why I admire him so much is that he is determined to lead a life, in spite of his physical difficulties he has to overcome. Although his prevents him from going to school, he gives himself an education by studying at home. Being unable to himself, he uses a special typewriter to write letters to his friends and beautiful poems which the true depth of his thoughts and character. Another reason why I admire Gary is that he never feels sorry for himself. He says, for instance, that being unable to move around gives him more time to think. In fact, he always to see the bright side of any situation, so instead of needing his friends to him, he actually cheers us up when we are or depressed.
I would admire Gary he didn’t have any disability; in fact he does, and to let it spoil his life, which makes him the most remarkable person I have known.

Focus on what you are thankful for. Most people want things to be better than they are, or when things are going well, we forget to appreciate what we have. Learn to reflect on how much better things are than they could be. Focus on what you are thankful for. Write down 5 things you are grateful for right now.
When we hold onto regrets from decisions we have made, it can really poison our well-being. Many people regret something they can no longer change, which ends up holding them back from moving forward in a more positive manner. What happened in the past is done and gone, so work to stay present and be mindful of the current moment to find more joy and fulfillment.
When we use other people as the measuring stick for our personal success and quality of life we are likely to be less satisfied. Social comparisons can provide useful information when we try to learn from others, but they also hold our perspective in a discontented position. Compare yourself less with others so you can be satisfied more.
When you are focused on your big ambitions and future goals you might elide the daily pleasures that surround you. Learn to slow down and absorb the wonder and beauty around you. Stay present and focus on the task you’re undertaking at the moment. Don’t let the life pass you by because you’re always on the go and distracted by ambition.
Practice looking at life through the lens of contentment and it will become more natural.
