阅读理解。      The society today is in a state of changing. Everywhere ways of doing things are changing and the
items that we use on a daily basis are also changing. This change has also come to the clothing business.
Most people are not aware that organic clothing production is now a billion-dollar industry. Many of us
probably don"t even know what organic clothing is.
Organic clothing is the material that is made and grown in accordance with organic standards. This
means that in the process of growing the material no harm is done to the air, water and the earth itself.
These materials are not harmful to the earth"s natural ecological system and meet the standards of what is
well known today as "going green". Another fact that most people are not aware of is that the clothing
industry adds more pollution to the natural environment than most other industries.
Cotton is one material where pesticides are used a lot because the crops are always being attacked
by various insects and bugs. On the contrary, organically grown cotton does not use any of these harmful
pesticides and nor do they add any other chemicals to the natural cotton.
Organic clothing is catching on but you may not find it in your local department stores. However, you
would be more likely to find a better variety by going online. Organic clothing may be a bit more
expensive than ordinary clothing. Cotton is not the only material that is grown organically, although it is
very popular.    Other materials include hemp, bamboo and wool. Just as with organically grown cotton,
there are no pesticides or chemicals used in the growing process of these materials. Most people say that
clothing made from organic cotton has a smoother feel and is softer and gentler on the skin.1. According to the passage , which of the following is known by most people?A. What organic clothing is

B. Neither pesticides nor chemicals are added to organic cotton.
C. Only cotton has been organically grown so far.
D. People think poorly of clothing made from organic cotton.3. The underlined phrase  "catching on " in the fourth paragraph means ________.A. getting started
B. becoming cheaper
C. getting improved

阅读理解。     Motivation is defined as the intention of achieving a goal, leading to goal-directed behavior. It drives
us towards achieving our goals, and gives us a reason to do the things that are required to reach our goals. There are two kinds of motivation: outside and self-motivation.
Outside motivation is motivation from an inspiring book, a story about courage, nature or even a child. You could be motivated after hearing a speech from an inspirational speaker or you might want to do
something for the community when you heard a heartwarming story. Sometimes, it is through outside
motivation that we think about our life and our achievements. Outside motivation gives you hope and
reminds you that it is possible to be successful and happy.
There is no stronger motivation than self-motivation. People can tell you all kinds of inspiring stories,
advice and encouragement but if we have no desire to change, it can"t motivate us. Self-motivation
requires us to look within ourselves to find the reason to drive us towards our goal. We accept and
acknowledge what is lacked in our life and make it our goal to change ourselves. Self-motivation requires
a lot of perseverance and belief. In self-motivation, we tell ourselves what we want to do; nobody and
nothing can otherwise inspire us to take action. We are in charge of our actions and emotions.
Outside motivation could be the first step in helping us identify our goals. It gives us hope and
sometimes provides us with the guidelines towards achieving our goals. However, as this is other
people"s experience, we might get side tracked or find it difficult to follow. Of course, we can be
de-motivated (消极的) too by our own self-motivation. However, as it comes from within us and we
master the process, self-motivation is a stronger and more secure way to help us achieve our goals.1. Which of the following statements is NOT about outside motivation?A. Other people can encourage us to reach our goals.
B. It"s easy to follow other people"s experiences to make progress.
C. Outside motivation gives us hope to achieve success.
D. A speech from a famous speaker may motivate us.2. From the third paragraph, we learn that self-motivation ______ .A. is more important than outside motivation.
B. comes into effect through outside motivation.
C. may make us easily doubt others" advice.
D. requires us to find the reason to succeed from outside.3. The author showed his opinion by the following means EXCEPT ______ .A. giving examples
B. listing numbers
C. making comparisons
D. using definitions4. What would be the best title for the text? A. Motivation Helps Achieve Goals.
B. Two Ways To Achieve Goals.
C. Outside Motivation or Self-motivation: Which is stronger?
D. Outside Motivation: the Key to Success.

What is eBay? The simple answer is that it is a global trading platform where nearly anyone can trade
practically anything. People can sell and buy all kinds of products and goods, including cars, movies and
DVDs, sporting goods, travel tickets, musical instruments, clothes and shoes- the list goes on and on.
The idea came from Peter Omidyar, who was born in Paris and moved to Washington when he was
still a child. At high school, he became very interested in computer programming and after graduating
from Tuft University in 1988, he worked for the next few years as a computer engineer. In his free time
he started eBay as a kind of hobby, at first offering the service free by word of mouth. By 1996 there
was so much traffic on the website that he had to upgrade and he began charging a fee to members.
Joined by a friend, Peter Skill, and in 1998 by his capable CEO, Meg Whitman, he has never looked
back
. Even in the great.com crashes of the late 1990s, eBay has gone from strength to strength. It is
now one of the ten most visited online shopping websites on the Internet.
EBay sells connections, not goods, putting buyer and seller into contact with each other. All you have
to do is make an e-photo, write a description, fill out a sales form and you are in business: the world is
your market place. Of course for each item sold eBay gets a percentage and that is great deal of money.
Every day there are more than sixteen million items listed on eBay and eighty percent of the items are
sold.
