When difficult people express themselves orally, they generally want at least two things: they"ve been
heard and they"ve been understood. As a good communicator should be a good listener, five steps are
advocated toward good listening.
The first step is cooperating(合作). How does a difficult person know that you"re listening and
understanding? In fact, it"s through the way you look and sound while he is talking. You may help him to
fully express his thoughts and feelings. You do this by nodding your head in agreement, making certain
sounds of understanding.
When the person begins to repeat what"s been said, it"s a signal of step two: turning back. It means
that you repeat back some words he is using, sending a clear signal that you"re listening carefully and that
you think what he is saying is important.
Having heard what he has to say, the next step is clarifying. At this point, you start to gather information about what is being communicated. Ask some open ended questions, which will allow you to figure out
what intention he is hoping to satisfy.
The fourth step is to summarize(概括)what you"ve heard. This allows you to make sure that both you
and the difficult person are on the same page. When you do this, two things happen. First, if you"ve
missed something, he can fill in the details(细节). Second, you"ve shown that you"re making an effort to
understand completely. This increases the possibility of gaining cooperation from him.
Having listened carefully, you"ve now arrived at the point of confirming with the person that he feels
satisfied that his thoughts have been fully voiced. Ask if he feels understood. When enough sincere
listening, questioning, and remembering are brought together, understanding is usually achieved and a
difficult person becomes less difficult and more cooperative.

animal hospitals to give them injections(注射) so that they won"t carry diseases. There are many special
animal food stores, though people can get animal food in almost every kind of store. Some people spend
around two hundred Canadian dollars a month on animal food. When you visit people"s houses, they will
be very glad to show you their pets and they are very proud of them. You will also find that almost every
family has a bird feeder in their garden. All kinds of birds are welcome to come and have a good meal. They are free to come and go and nobody is allowed to kill any animal in Canada. They have a law against
killing wild animals. If you killed an animal, you would be punished. If an animal happened to be hurt by a
car, people would be very sad about it.
People in Canada have many reasons to like animals. One of them might be: Their family ties are not as close as ours. When children grow up, they leave their parents and start their own lives. Then the old will
feel lonely. But pets can solve this problem. They can be good friends and never leave them alone.

feel as if you have known them half your life. These people have something in common. And once we
know what it is, we can try to do it ourselves.
How is it done? Here are several skills that good talkers have. If you follow the skills, they"ll help
you put people at their ease, and make friends with them quickly.
First of all, good talkers ask questions. Almost anyone, no matter how shy he is, will answer a
question. One well-known businesswoman says, "At business lunches, I always ask people what they
did that morning. It"s a common question, but it will get things going." From there you can move on to
other matters-sometimes to really personal questions. And how he answers will let you know how far
you can go.
Second, once good talkers have asked questions, they listen to the answers. This point seems clear,
but it isn"t. Your questions should have a point and help to tell what sort of person you are talking to.
And to find out, you really have to listen carefully and attentively.
Real listening at least means some things. First it means not to change the subject of conversation. If
someone sticks to one topic, you can take it as a fact that he"s really interested in it. Real listening also
means not just listening to words, but to tones of voice. If the voice sounds dull, then, it"s time for you
to change the subject.
Finally, good talkers know well how to deal with the occasion of parting. If you"re saying good-bye,
you may give him a firm handshake and say, "I"ve really enjoyed meeting you." If you want to see that
person again, don"t keep it a secret. Let people know what you feel, and they may walk away feeling as
if they"ve known you half their life.

The goal is to calm down and try to solve what is bothering you. This is hard for some kids and adults,
too. Instead of calming down, some kids might keep getting more and more upset until they explode like
a volcano!
2 .Their anger might be so strong that they lose control of their temper. They may act in ways
unacceptable and hurtful. People may say that someone has trouble controlling their temper. 3
Some kids might get so angry that they scream at their parents, break something , or even worse , hit
their brothers or sisters. 4 .However, it"s not OK for a kid to do any of those things .Kids don"t want
to act in this way , but sometimes angry feelings can be hard to manage. So what to do?
Well, the good news is that kids don"t just have to keep making the same mistakes over and over
again. 5 .Imagine your temper as a puppy inside you that needs some training. The puppy is not
bad - it will probably turn out a great dog. It just needs to learn some rules because, right now, that
puppy is causing some problems to you.
A. You can train you temper.
B. You don"t want to cause trouble.
C. Kids should be allowed to express their feelings, even angry ones.

Belle, the founder of parkour(跑酷).
Do you love running? It is a good exercise, yet many people find it boring. But what if making your
morning jog a creative one? Like jumping from walls and over gaps, and ground rolls? Just like the James Bond in the movie Casino Royale? Bond jumps down from a roof to a windowsill and then runs several
blocks over obstacles on the way. It is just because of Bond"s wonderful performances that the sport has
become popular worldwide.
Yes, that"s parkour, an extreme street sport aimed at moving from one point to another as quickly as
possible, getting over all the obstacles in the path using only the abilities of the human body. Parkour is
considered an extreme sport. As its participants dash around a city, they may jump over fences, run up
walls and even move from rooftop to rooftop.
Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds, but its participants see parkour much more
than that.
Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy(理念) behind parkour. This is the same as life. You must determine your destination, go straight, jump over all the barriers as if
in parkour and never fall back from them in your life, to reach the destination successfully. A parkour
lover said, "I love parkour because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything."
Another philosophy we"ve learnt from parkour is freedom. It can be done by anyone, at any time,
anywhere in the world. It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself that you earn energy and confidence.

saying is "A rolling stone gathers no moss". It has several meanings. One meaning is that a person who
never settles down in one place will not be successful. Another is that someone who is always moving,
with no roots in one place, avoids responsibilities.
This proverb was said to be first used in the 1500s. But in the 1960s, the expression "rolling stone"
became famous in the world of rock-and-roll music. It became the name of a song, a rock group and
a magazine.
Experts say it all started with a song by the American singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. He was
one of the country"s top blues musicians until his death in 1983. His music influenced singers like Elvis
Presley and Bob Dylan. In 1950, Muddy Waters recorded a song called "Rolling Stone".
A British rock group is said to have taken its name from Muddy Waters" song. The Rolling Stones
performed for the first time in 1962. The group"s members called themselves "the world"s greatest rock
and roll band".
In 1965, Bob Dylan released his song "Like a Rolling Stone". It is one of his best known and most
influential works.
It is an angry song about a woman who was once rich and successful. But now she is on her own,
"with no direction home, like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone".
In 1967, a young man named Jann Wenner started a magazine and he named it "Rolling Stone". The
