But time, like sunlight,is still in short supply for December. That"s why the Internet is ready to make a change in holiday greeting customs.Already, those, who are always busy, like sending video greetings by e-mail.So,don"t be surprised to find a lively card in your electronic mail box at the end of the year or at any time you should have one.
A recent survey by the Shared Greetings Company found 50 percent of all the Internet users will send online cards especially during the holiday seasons.“That is a lot easier, and it is lively,”said Carol,a New Yorker, who had stopped at the Shared Greetings Company demonstration() online. With her children"s help, she sent her first e-card before Thanksgiving Day.“It was the first time I had done something like this;it"s quite enjoyable,”she said.
“I will send online Christmas cards to my friends,”said Marcos,a 22-year-old student.“It costs so little and you can even send numbers of greetings at a time.”But he added “the e-card also has its limits, and I don"t think it is ready to replace the paper card for the more formal or traditional occasions. For some people,I would rather buy paper cards and mail them traditionally.I believe it is more personal and respectful in that way,”he said.
Well, for those who are very busy but still prefer to do a lot of greetings to different receivers in the holiday season, the Internet may have another way.“Now you can use the Net to decide and send as many as 50 beautiful cards, which allows the buyer to choose the inside saying,as well as the ink colour and typeface, only costing about 30 minutes,”said Julie,vice-president of marketing for an electronic card company-Hallmark Company.“And if you are in less of a hurry, you can spend another 30 minutes sitting in your home or office to create a photo card, showing off your kids, your pets or even your new house-anything as your favorite design for your relatives and friends.”

The scientist’s knowledge must be exact. There is no room for half right or right just half the time. He must be as nearly right as the conditions permit. What works under one set of conditions at one time must work under the same conditions at other times. If the conditions are different, any changes the scientist observes in a demonstration must be explained by the changes in the conditions. This is one reason that investigations are important in science. Albert Einstein, who developed the theory of relativity, arrived at this theory through mathematics. The accuracy of his mathematics was later tested through investigations. Einstein’s ideas were shown to be correct. A scientist uses many tools for measurements. Then the measurements are used to make mathematical calculations that may test his investigations.

__1__ of watching Chinese football? If you are,you will know that China"s football world is a mess (混乱) recently. It looks as if only an earthquake 2 the system and a reform has to 3 . Last week, the fa"st steps towards change might have been 4 when the Chinese Football Association(CFA) agreed 5 out the reform of the Chinese Premier League (中超联赛). For example, no team will leave the league for its bad performance this year. The move came following pressure from both clubs and the fans.
The story starts when the Beijing Hyundai Football Club quit a match (罢赛) on October 2,2004 in protest against a penalty kick (违规点球). The club disagreed 6 their punishment made by the CFA, 7 included a fine and a points cut. It warned it might leave the league. Many fans and clubs supported Beijing Hyundai"s position. They said that the fault did not lie 8 the club but the troubled Chinese football world. Scold of match fixing and" black whistles" have been frequent since the late 1990s. In an important match 9 Yanbian Hyundai and Sichuan Quanxing in 1995, one side gave up defending to protest 10 unfair referees(判罚) and watched the other side score almost freely. My newly-rented small apartment was far away from the centre of London and it was becoming essential for me to find a job, so finally I spent a whole morning getting to town and putting my name down to be considered by London Transport for a job on the underground. They were looking for guards, not drivers. This suited me. I couldn’t drive a car but thought that I could probably guard a train, and perhaps continue to write my poems between stations. The writers Keats and Chekhov had been doctors. T.S. Eliot had worked in a bank and Wallace Stevens for an insurance company. I’d be a subway guard. I could see myself being cheerful, useful, a good man in a crisis. Obviously I’d be overqualified but I was willing to forget about that in return for a steady income and travel privileges — those being particularly welcome to someone living a long way from the city centre.
The next day I sat down, with almost a hundred other candidates, for the intelligence test. I must have done all right because after about half an hour’s wait I was sent into another room for a psychological test. This time there were only about fifty candidates. The interviewer sat at a desk. Candidates were signaled forward to occupy the seat opposite him when the previous occupant had been dismissed, after a greater or shorter time. Obviously the long interviews were the more successful ones. Some of the interviews were as short as five minutes. Mine was the only one that lasted a minute and a half.
I can remember the questions now: “Why did you leave your last job?” “Why did you leave your job before that?” “And the one before that?” I can’t recall my answers, except that they were short at first and grew progressively shorter. His closing statement, I thought, revealed (揭示) a lack of sensitivity which helped to explain why as a psychologist, he had risen no higher than the underground railway. “You’ve failed the psychological test and we are unable to offer you a position.”
Failing to get that job was my low point. Or so I thought, believing that the work was easy. Actually, such jobs — being a postman is another one I still desire — demand exactly the sort of elementary yet responsible awareness that the habitual dreamer is least qualified to give. But I was still far short of full self-understanding. I was also short of cash.
