第一节阅读理解(共12小题,每小题2分,满分24分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
Violent(暴力的) computer games have been strongly connected with aggression(好斗) in teenager boys in a study that shows the machines are increasingly becoming substitutes(替代品)for friendship.
The research provides powerful support to the doubt that actual violence could be one of the factors behind the crimes of aggression including young people. John Colwell, a lecturer at Middlesex University, who carried out the research, said aggression in boys seemed to increase with the amount of playing such games. “There are many facts to suggest there is a connection between playing computer games and aggression,” he said.
Previous studies have shown only a certain relation between such games and aggression. This conclusion was uncertain because it could mean that children who played the games did so because they had shown a sign to violence. Colwell"s work shows, however, that there is a strong link, meaning that playing such games makes children more aggressive. He reached his conclusions after studying the behavior of 204 pupils aged 12-14 from a school in north London.
Children became obviously more aggressive the longer they had been playing violent games. They shouted, pushed and hit other children. Those who played in occasional bursts showed little effect. All the children spent many hours playing such games. Nearly 97% of boys and 88% of girls were regular users. Almost the boys, the heaviest computer users tended to have the fewest friends and reported seeing their machine as a friend.
41. Why did most of the computer users have few friends?
A. Because they felt very proud and lonely
B. Because they seldom left their homes
C. Because they regarded the computer as their only friend
D. Because they spent more time working in the computer

A. children spend many hours on the computer studies
B. many boys are interested in violence{007}
C. children always play violent games in the computer
D. many girls become more dishonest up to now
43. How did Colwell prove his own views from the passage?
A. He studied nearly 97% of boys" actions.
B. He studied the behavior of over two hundred children in a school.
C. He studied almost 80%of girls" actions.
D. He often talked to those little computer users in his home.

Advertisements can be placed nearly everywhere to catch our attention, they have even become popular on the Internet. That means that customers can see them at any time and from any place. In cities, you can see them on the sides of buses, taxis and trains. There are advertisements high up on the sides of buildings. The names of famous brands, like Nike, Pepsi, Guess and Apple, appear on shoes, clothing and bags. So when people use these branded products in their daily life, they are helping the products to sell more of them.
Every company gets you to recognize its name. The company name is always printed in the same way, using the same letters and the same colors. So, when customers see the same “look” of the company name day-in and day-out, they begin to recognize it without having to read it.
We cannot predict the future of advertising, but one thing is certain- advertisements are here to stay and will always change the way of our life.

第三节回答问题(共3小题;每小题2分,满分6分)
阅读下面短文,根据第58至第60小题的具体要求,简要回答问题。
Nearly all American students in colleges and universities pay for their education. There are many expenses. First of all, there is tuition. At some schools, the tuition is very high, ten thousand dollars a year or more. At other schools, it may only be a few hundred dollars a year. At some community colleges, tuition is free. There are other expenses as well. Many students leave their homes to go to schools in other cities. They may live in dormitories or apartments, and they must pay for it. Finally, students must buy textbooks for their courses. Some families start saving money for their children’s education when the children are small. Many students work to save money for tuition. They can also get loans from the government. They pay the money back to the government when they finish their education.
58. How much is the higher tuition? (no more than 7 words)

61.Many facts suggest that children are overweight and the situation is getting worse, according to the doctors. I feel there are a number of reasons for this.
Some people blame the fact that are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy, fatty foods, such as fried chicken and ice cream, at low prices. This has turned out a whole generation of grown-ups who seldom cook a meal for themselves.
Many universities are providing more financial (财政上的) aid for their students. 62.If there were few of these restaurants, then probably children would buy less take-away food.
There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to become overweight. I agree with, because good eating habits begin early in life, long before children start to visit fast food shops.
There is a third reason for this situation. Children these days take very little exercise. They do not walk to school. 63. 他们一回家就是坐在电视机前或电脑前玩电脑游戏。64. Not only is this an unhealthy pastime(消遣), it also gives them time to eat more unhealthy food. 65.他们所需要的是走出去并进行运动。 The above are the main reasons for this problem, and therefore we have to encourage young people to be more active, as well as steering them away from fast food shops and bad eating habits.
