_________ ________ ________cars when crossing the road.
答案
小题1:staring up at
小题2:nowhere  be seen
小题3:why confusing
小题4:is related to
小题5:watch out for/look out for
解析

小题1:“抬头盯着某人”是stare up at sb. 又因为find sb doing sth 所以填staring up at
有关”是be related to,主语是动名词smoking,所以be动词用is。
小题5:“注意、当心”用watch out for/look out for,如果不接宾语就用watch out /look out

Tuberculosis(肺结核,TB) killed 1,300,000 people arould the world in 2007. In addition, almost half a million people who were infected with tuberculosis and with HIV also died. Those were listed as  HIV deaths.
About one-third of all people are infected with tuberculosis. But the body’s natural defenses are usually strong enough to prevent an active case. Even so, the bacteria remain in the body. If the immune system weakens at any point, they begin to spread and then attack.
The bacteria that cause TB usually settle in the lungs. They spread through the air when the person coughs or even sings and talks.
One of the most important things is to identify cases quickly. The patients need to be kept away from other people and begin treatment as soon as possible.
Multidrug resistant tuberculosis, orMDR-TB, will not get better with antibiotics normally used for tuberculosis. So doctors must use stronger, “second line “ drugs when the first ones fall.
Now, researchers say they have found a much faster way to identify drug-resistant TB. The study’s lead author is Graham Hatfull at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
The scientists used viruses called bacteriophages to speed the process. These viruses attack bacteria. The researchers injected them with a gene that produces green light. They also injected some with first line antibiotics and others with second line drugs.
Then they combined the bacteriophages with TB bacteria. If the bacteria produces green light, it means they are drug-resistant. The researchers say a clinic worker could identify the green light with equipment easy to get in many clinics. Test results would not have to wait for the bacteria to grow in a lab far away. For now , the test itself needs more testing. But Professor Hatfull is hopeful this will take months and not years.

第1—4题是四位人士针对“孩子玩电脑或电子游戏会影响他们的个性发展吗”的观点,从A-E中选出相应的陈述与之匹配,并在答题纸上将相应选项的标号涂黑。选项中有一项是多余选项。
小题1:. Parents need to watch the time their kids spend on computer or video games.
小题2:. The effect of playing computer or video games on a child is different but it is there.
小题3:. Computer or video games do affect children’s social development because they are not playing in reality.
小题4:. If you have heard of online gaming, then you know video games can affect social development in a good way.
A.For a lot of children, computers and video games are just an escape from reality, taking them away from real life for a while, replacing a stressful or boring environment with sights and sounds kids could only imagine before. They have the ability of entertaining people’s minds while drawing in the whole attention away from real life. So the result will be like this: whenever a child can’t handle problems in real life, he might just turn to computer games.
B.Reading Tom Sawyer or Harry Porter is as personal an act as playing an online game or even more personal than playing an online or two-player game. I’ve rarely seen two people happily reading ONE book together. But when kids play online games they need to work together and it encourages the development of social skills.
C.Many results can occur from playing video games, from feeling abandoned and becoming addicted to getting better in touch with what other students are doing. The question here is whether or not video games affect a child’s development, not if it is good or bad. Anything that you interact with is going to have an effect on your development.
D.People blame the computer and videos, because it is an easy target to hit. If you really wanna look at people being lonely, look at the school system, where teachers could easily fix the problem by doing more group work with him/her choosing the students for the group. I mean, I could play outside by myself and still be lonely. There isn’t a difference.
E.  I do believe our children’s development is affected by computers and video game play if too much time is spent because that’s time that a child used to be playing outside with other children. I think that some computer work is good because it trains the brain in new patterns, but time on the computer need to be limited and playing outside should be encouraged.

Recently, our school has held the meaningful discussion on whether it is reasonable for middle school students to have classes on weekends. Some of our classmates believe we should have classes on weekends.because we can make fully use of the free time to review the lessons we had learnt. Some others are against the opinion, saying we had better to have a good rest on weekends so that we can work effective during the weekdays. The rest agree with neither of the opinion. They have the view which keeping the balance between work and play are both important for us.They suggest one day of the weekend should used to learn our lessons and during the other day they do something interested or have a rest.
