After the student left, the teacher let _________ student taste the water. He spit it out, _________ (say) it was awful. Apparently, it was no longer fresh because of the old leather container. He asked his teacher, “ Sir, the water was awful. Why did you pretend to like _______?”
The teacher replied, “ You tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container of love for an act of kindness and love. Nothing could be ________(sweet).”
We understand this lesson best _________ we receive gifts of love from children. Whether it is a cheap pipe or a diamond necklace, the proper response is appreciation. We love the idea within the gift rather than the thing.

Our mothers accompanied us to school in the first day. Soon a teacher came and led us to a classroom. There we were put into four separate class. Some children begin to cry as the parents were not allowing into the classroom. I did not cry because I have been to kindergarten before. Actual my mother went home soon after for she knew I would be all right. It was enjoyable time for me as I got to know my new classmates. The teacher was very busy for writing down our information so they had plenty of time to ourselves. In the meantime some children continued to sob although their parents looked in anxiously through the window.

We’ve all experienced similar annoying tricks when we were young—the brother who stole your ball and then got you into trouble by telling your parents you had hit him. But Mary and John are not humans. They’re African baboons(狒狒). ___小题1:___
John’s scream and his mother’s attack on Mary could have been a matter of chance, but John was later seen playing the same tricks on others. ___小题2:___
Studying behavior like this is complicated but scientists discovered apes(猿) clearly showed that they intended to cheat and knew when they themselves had been cheated. ___小题3:___ An ape was annoying him, so he tricked her into going away by pretending he had seen something interesting. When she found nothing, she “walked back, hit me over the head with her hand and ignored me for the rest of the day.”
Another way to decide whether an animal’s behavior is deliberate is to look for actions that are not normal for that animal. A zoo worker describes how an ape dealt with an enemy. “He slowly stole up behind the other ape, walking on tiptoe. When he got close to his enemy, he pushed him violently in the back, then ran indoors.” Wild apes do not normally walk on tiptoe. ____小题4:___ But looking at the many cases of deliberate trickery in apes, it is impossible to explain them all as simple copying.
It seems that trickery does play an important part in ape societies. ____小题5:___ Studying the intelligence of our closest relative could be the way to understand the development of human intelligence.
A.In most cases the animal probably doesn’t know it is cheating. |
B.An amusing example of this comes from a psychologist working in Tanzania. |
C.And playing tricks is as much a part of monkey behavior as it is of human behavior. |
D.So the psychologists asked his colleagues if they had noticed this kind of trickery. |
F. This use of a third individual to achieve a goal is only one of the many tricks commonly used by baboons.
G. Of course it’s possible that it could have learnt from humans that such behavior works, without understanding why.
The news which the English Entrance Examination will be reformed has caused a big “earthquake” in our country. Many people, included students, are for it. But there are also some people are against it. Then, is it better to do so or not? Personally, I think the reform has between advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it can reduce students’ learn burden and enable English to return back to its true function. On the other hand, it will cause students to spend less time on studying English and to attached less importance to English. If so, students will not have a good knowledge of English. What’s more, if students don’t have so a good ability, they will not be able to broaden our horizon and meet the future challenges.
