Why do you think you"re the only one with parents like that? All parents are the same. They want us to look like them. Sometimes it"s really annoying. They don"t understand that fashions have changed in the last 30 years! Tom, Canada Hi, Helen. I think you should do what your parents ask. They"re much older than you and you should take their advice. It"s their house you live in and their money you spend. Emily, New Zealand, Helen, why should your parents do all the washing-up? You should help around the house---it"s only fair. Simon, Scotland I don"t see why you are so unhappy. Your parents act like that because you are the one they love and care about. We share housework in my family. I even wash the car for my father. And I get paid for that. Victoria. Australia |

Beijing is the capital of China and can be easily reached by train, plane or bus. There are two main train stations in Beijing. One is in the center and can be reached by subway; the other is in the southwest of Beijing and can easily be reached by bus.
The city itself has good transportation. The total length of the subway in the city is about 200 km. It’s convenient. Passengers can buy tickets from vending machines at entrances to the subway.
The roads in the city are excellent . The traffic runs quite well except during rush hours(高峰期) in the morning and evening when people drive to and from work .
Some buses in Beijing have a box near the driver . You can put money into the box when you get on the bus . Payment on these buses is usually one Yuan no matter (无论)how far you go . Other buses have a conductor. His or her job is to collect money from passengers . On these buses , the price is usually based on(依据) how far you travel .

There were only a few coins in the hat. A man was walking by. He took out a few coins and dropped them into the hat .He then turned the sign around and wrote something on it. He put the sign back and walked away.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and ask, “Are you the one who changed my sign in the morning? What did you do?”
The man said, “I only wrote the truth in a different way.”
What he had written was, “Today is a beautiful day, but I can’t see it.”
Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply told people to help by putting some money in the hat. The second one told people that they were able to enjoy the beauty of the day, but the boy could not enjoy it because he was blind.
The first sign simply said the boy was blind, while the second one told people they were so lucky that they were not blind.
There are at least two lessons we can learn from this simple story.
Treasure (珍惜) what you have. Someone else has less. Try your best to help those who need your help.
Be creative. Think differently. There is always a better way.

I think people should do more things online from home. Why pollute the air by driving your car to the supermarket, when you can order your weekly shopping on the Internet—You can also book holidays as well.

I try to use public transportation whenever I can. I take the bus to college and walk home. When my mum wants to give me a lift, I always refuse, as I can get there quickly by bus. Also the buses in my town are electric so they are environmentally friendly!

Why not use two wheels? Any motorcycle will use less fuel (燃料)than an a car. You don’t get caught in traffic jams either. But in my opinion, the best thing is a bicycle. They don"t produce any pollution and help you to keep fit at the same time.

I can’t get to my university by bus or train. So I found three other girls who live nearby to have a car share with. And now we take it in turns to drive every day. I have cut down the costs —and most importantly, —I am helping the environment!

Studies show that when the brains is forced to do something new, it creates new neural (神经元) pathways. The more pathways you have, the faster you can think and the better memory you will have. Wonderful steps towards a smarter brain are as follows:
Choose proper TV programs
Watching an average TV show needs very little brain power and brings the same result as giving no care to physical exercise. Your brain will become weak just as your muscles do,if you watch TV, choose something educational and full of information.
Travel
Traveling to a new country forces you to see and do things in a new way, making your brains more active.
Learning a new language
A new language learner usually uses different learning methods. Learning a language sharpens your brain and helps you prevent memory problems in later years.
Master a new subject
Each week, choose an animal, a bird or a fish, and read everything you can about it. Go on learning unitl you become an expert on the subject.
Use your non-dominant hand
If you are right-handed,use your left hand for everyday activities, or use your right hand if you are left-handed. Doing familiar things in a new way will cause your brain to create new neural networks.
Read often
As you read, take the time to look up people or places that aren’t familiar. Reading can enlarge your vocabulary if you search for words and expressions that you don’t know.
Calculate while you shop
As you put things in your shopping bag, total everything in your head. See how close you get to the actual total.
Play video games
Studies have found that some video games force you to use critical decision-making skills and can even improve students’ math grades.
