阅读理解。　 Linda and David have travelled by air from London to Sydney, Australia. Linda has promised (答应) her
mother that she will ring her to let her know that they have arrived safely. This is something she had done
ever since she was a child. David thinks it is not a good idea to ring so far, to spend too much, and to say so
little.
     "If there were an accident." He says, they"d know soon enough. Bad news travels fast." 　　
     But Linda has promised that she would ring. "However," she says, "it doesn"t cost much when you just

阅读理解。     Last Friday, after doing all the family shopping in town, I wanted to have a rest before catching the train.
I bought a newspaper and some chocolate and went into the station coffee shop. It was a cheap self-service

阅读理解。     Albert was an ordinary worker in an oil company in America. His workmates gave a nickname (绰号)
"Four dollars a bucket of oil" below his name whenever and wherever he wrote down his name.
    As time went by, people forgot his real name. Later, when Rockefeller, the board chairman (董事长)
