Rachel Carson was born in the USA on May,1907. Her mother, Maria Carson, had been a schoolteacher. She also loved nature. She showed Rachel the beauty of nature. Some time ago, an old businessman had a large store in Boston. He wanted a boy to work for him, and he put an advertisement in the newspaper. The next morning, many boys came to the old man’s office, asking for the job.
There was a post(柱子)by his desk, and there was a nail(钉子)in it. He took a walking-stick and said, “Everyone has three chances. If anyone can hit the nail on the head with this stick more than once, I will give him the job. ”

In one class, I gave the students an assignment (作业) to a poem. I only made the assignment worth a very small part of their total grade since I knew most of my would not do it anyway. My life at my grandparents’ house was really nice. And then on Friday, May 15, 2002, my grandpa died of cancer. I cried for seven days straight. My dad and his new wife were worried about me.
