Knowinghow much love flowers,my nine-year-old daughter presented me with branches
she’d picked from a blossoming fruit tree in a vacant lot.“Bonnie,these are
lovely,” I said,“but do you realize that if you had left them on the tree,
each of these blossoms would have become a cherry?”
“No,they wouldn’t have,” she stated firmly.
“Oh,yes,they would have,if left alone,each blossom would have grown into a
cherry.”
“Well,okay,” she
conceded,“but they were plums last year!”
