Stepping off the plane at the airport in Sanya,my first impression was the familiar look and feel of the tropics of Southeast Asia.Having traveled throughout much of Southeast Asia,I have learned to appreciate the familiar feelings,smells,and sensations associated with the region and its climate.An extension off a peninsula descending south from China’s mainland,Hainan Island,a Province in itself,sits firmly off the central coast of Vietnam helping to form the Gulf of Tonkin on its West coast and surrounded otherwise by the South China Sea.The climate feels like Southeast Asia because it is Southeast Asia,and I love it!
