B:Yes,I do.You can easily see it from the singing competition reality shows in recent years,such as the Super Girls and Super Boys run by Hunan Satellite TV.
C:Well,why would you say that?I can't see your point.
B:Isn't it clear?These shows enjoyed very high viewing rates,and some of their winners,such as Zhang Liangying and Li Yuchun,really became pop idols in China.
D:Yes,I heard of the names of Zhang and Li.They are both young and popular singers,with millions of fans across the country.
E:But what can that prove?Well,those shows did create a couple of successful singers,but just see the others who participated in the competition.Whether they won or lost,they are simply ignored and forgotten by the public now.
F:And even Zhang and Li can't be called very good singers.I think they lack professional training and they became successful just because they have nice natural voices.
A:So what's the best way for people to find good singers?
F:I think it should be the traditional way -- picking candidates from music academies and colleges who have received professional training,and then putting them in troupes and theaters to be tested by the audience.
B:I think that's absurd.That's the way people found good singers 30 to 50 years ago.Now TV is so popular and so powerful,no one can ignore its influence,including its ability to create overnight public idols and stars.
C:Well,maybe you are right.But I still doubt whether the hosts of the TV reality show have the qualification to judge who is the best singer.Sometimes they just tend to choose those handsome or pretty singers rather than the singers who can really sing very well.
D:Yes,for example,in this year's Super Boys competition,some really good singers were eliminated in the early stage of the finals,even unable to make it into the final 10.
E:Yeah,that's really unfair.
