to know exactly how to keep your valuables safe.
If you are traveling alone, distribute (分散) your money through your luggage. Place most of it in
a wallet and put the wallet in your main suitcase or bag. Make a rough estimate of how much money
you will need on the journey, till you reach your destination. Add, say, $100 to that. Place this money
in a different wallet and carry this in your pocket. Spend from this wallet till you get to your destination.
If you are traveling with someone, distribute the money among yourselves.
Instead of wearing your jewelry(珠宝), you can put your jewelry at the bottom of your suitcase or
bag. DO NOT carry it in your purse; just in case somebody is very quick in stealing your purse; or in
case you misplace your purse. In addition, if you are going to be frequently opening your purse for
things like tickets and phone numbers, what if you accidentally just drop it?
Have you ever seen a mini backpack purse? It looks really fashionable and is very smart. Plus, it"s
really convenient to use. The best thing to do is to sling(悬挂) the mini backpack purse in the front, like
a baby carrier. There are two big advantages to do this: one, your hands remain free to carry your
luggage and other things; and two, your purse is always monitored, and it is just under your nose.
Credit cards are very useful in many ways. But if you misplace your credit card, it is quite easy for
someone else to find it and use it to his/her maximum benefit before you even realize you have lost it!
If you lose cash, you lose only that much cash as you are carrying. But a lost credit card means the
money in your bank account is lost. So always try to use cash instead of credit card while traveling.

A twisted sense of humor and a strong voice cast(演出人员) make "Open Season" fun for kids and adults. It"s a great start for Sony"s animation studio. Boog is a full-grown grizzly(灰熊)bear that has been raised among humans by park ranger Beth. He has a warm place to live, all the food he wants, and is safe from hunters. However, when he crosses paths with the spastic(大脑性麻痹的) mule deer Elliot, all that changes. Thanks to a series of misunderstandings, everyone believes Boog is dangerous and out of control. Beth is forced to release(释放) him back into the wild. Once Boog finds himself in the great outdoors, he has no idea what to do. He gets lost, can"t find food, and is attacked by unfriendly forest cutters. Boog is forced to rely on the idiotic Elliot to help him find his way back to civilization(文明). But can they make it before open season begins for hunting? The movie also has a really strong voice cast. Martin Lawrence voices Boog, and his attitude and persona(人格面具)perfectly fit the bear. The same goes for Aston Kutcher as Elliot. Even if you can"t stand him in the real world, you"ll be surprised how well he brings the annoying deer to life in the movie. The animation in "Open Season" is also excellent. The characters are quite cartoonish, but the hair is realistic looking and the movements are fantastic. The body language adds a lot to the performances of the characters. 小题1:What’s the key factor(因素) that the Boog need to survive himself in the wild?

The Banquet has been described as a loose adaptation(节选)of "Hamlet", featuring royal conflicts(冲突) and revenge(复仇)which is set in 10th century China. The new Emperor (Ge You) has usurped(篡夺) the throne(帝位)by murdering the previous Emperor. He marries the Empress (Zhang Ziyi), wife of the previous Emperor and stepmother to the Crown Prince (Daniel Wu). At first, the Empress seeks only to protect herself, but as the new Emperor grows suspicious(疑心) of all those around him, she realizes that only by helping the Crown Prince kill him can she hope to survive. Together with the Chief Minister (Ma Jingwu),she tries to carry out this plot, but when the Prince is destroyed by hesitation, she thinks out a new plan and seeks the throne for herself. As the plot move towards its climax(高潮), the Emperor calls for a plentiful royal banquet, where each will seek the end of their enemies. The Banquet differs from Hamlet in that it does not focus on the prince, but examines the feelings of each character. According to director Feng Xiaogang: "If Hamlet is about a prince who must make a choice involving life and death, then The Banquet is about how each character must face a choice of life or death... All are motivated by desire, but as soon as they have begun their plans must grow more extreme, and they move step-by-step towards the abyss(深渊)... They do not intend evil, but turn to it out of self-preservation and ever-growing ambition(野心)." 1. As far as we can tell from the text, the Empress ________. A. The Banquet differs from the Hamlet. B. The main characters in the play. C. The plot(情节)of the Banquet. D. The ambition of each character. | ||||||||||||||||
A little under one-third of U.S. families have no Internet access and do not plan to get it, with most of the holdouts seeing little use for it in their lives, according to a survey released on Friday. Park Associates, a Dallas-based technology market research firm, said 29 percent of U.S. families, or 31 million homes, do not have Internet access and do not intend to subscribe(预订)to an Internet service over the next 12 months. The second annual National Technology Scan conducted by Park found that the main reason why potential customers say they do not subscribe to the Internet is because of the low value to their daily lives rather than concerns over cost. Forty-four percent of these families say they are not interested in anything on the Internet, versus just 22 percent who say they cannot afford a computer or the cost of Internet service, the survey showed. The answer “I’m not sure how to use the Internet” came from 17 percent of participants who do not subscribe. The response “I do all my e-commerce shopping and YouTube-watching at work” was cited by 14 percent of Internet-access users. Three percent said the Internet doesn’t reach their homes. The study found U.S. broadband adoption grew to 52 percent over 2006, up from 42 percent in 2005. Roughly half of new subscribers converted(转变)from slower-speed, dial-up Internet access while the other half of families had no prior access. “The industry continues to chip(击破)away at the core of non-subscribers, but has a long way to go,” said John Barrett, director of research at Parks Associates. “Entertainment applications will be the key. If anything will pull in the holdouts, it’s going to be applications that make the Internet more similar to pay-TV,” he predicted. 41. What does the underlined word “holdouts” in the first paragraph most probably mean? A. some American families B. those who hold out one’s opinions C. those who have been surveyed D. those who still haven’t access to the Internet currently 42. Many potential customers refuse to subscribe to the Internet mainly because _________. A. they show too much concern about the cost B. they can find little value of it C. they do most YouTube-watching at work D. the Internet doesn’t reach their homes 43. From the passage we can infer that ________. A. It is not an easy job to transform those holdouts into the Internet users B. people will adopt dial-up Internet access no more C. many Americans enjoy doing e-commerce shopping at home D. more than half of the population are using the Internet in 2005 44. According to John Barrett, what is the key to attracting more U.S. families to broadband service? A. making the Internet look more similar to TV set B. applying the Internet more to entertainment C. providing more pay-TV programs D. chipping away at the core of non-subscribers 45. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Web develops with technology B. The present situation of web C. Many Americans see little point to web D. It is urgent to promote web service |
