About a year ago, I went to stay at a Detroit hotel. I didn’t want to carry too much money with me, so I asked the desk clerk(职员) to put a hundred dollar bill in the safe for me.
The next morning, however, the clerk said that he knew nothing about my money. I didn’t have any proof(证据) that I had given the man the money. There was clearly nothing left to do but to go to the nearest lawyer.
The lawyer advised me to return to the hotel with him and give another hundred-dollar bill to the desk. So we did. An hour later, I went back to the desk and asked for my money. And when the clerk insisted that he had given it to me, I said it was not true. The lawyer said to him, “ I saw this gentleman give you a hundred-dollar bill. If you don’t hand it in immediately, I will be forced to call the policeman.” The clerk realized he had been cheated, so he gave me back the first hundred-dollar bill.
“I don’t know how to thank you enough for getting my money back.” I said to the lawyer. And what do you suppose he answered? He said, “oh, don’t thank me. That will be one hundred dollars, please.”

Taking Care
From a very early age, I knew I wanted to be a nurse. My mother was a nurse and I have always 36 her and the way she took care of everyone. I wanted to be just like her.
So, here I am, a 37 for the last seven years. I love my work. Now, my father is quite 38 . He is 71 and has heart failure, and a lot of other medical 39 . One day at lunch time, I was getting ready to eat my same old tuna fish（金枪鱼）sandwich and suddenly Mrs. Amatuli asked me if she could buy my sandwich from me. She explained that I could use the money to buy a hot lunch from the cafeteria.

I realize now that Mrs. Amatuli could have fixed herself a tuna sandwich of Friday. But she bought my sandwich because she saw a little girll who was thrilled over the simple act of having a hot lunch.
I will never forget her for her compassion and generosity.
