die. smokejumpers are stop helping to stop this.
Smokejumpers are a special kind of firefight. they jump from places into areas that difficult to reach
by car or on foot. they race to put out fires as fast as they can.
At a fire site, Smokejumpers first examine the land and decide how to fight the fire. their main goal is
to stop fire from spreading. using basic tools such as shovels and axes, smokejumpers clear land of
burnable material like plants and other dry material. they carry water with them too, but not much.
Although most smokejumpers are men, more women are joining. Most important are your weight
and height. Smokejumpers in the U.S. for example ,must be 54 to 91 kilograms, so they don"t get hurt
when they land, or get blown by strong winds.
Smokejumpers must be able to live in the wilderness. in Russia ,many smokejumpers know how to
find food in the forest and even make simple furniture from trees.
Theyir work is dangerous, the hours are long. But for these firefighters, smokejumpers isn"t just a job.
They love being able to jump out of planes, fight fires, and live in the forest. As 28-year-old Russian
smokejumpers Alexi Tishin says,"This is the best job for the strong and brave."

It"s important to learn about protecting our environment. Here is a 5R rule
for us:
1.____________
If you want to reduce waste, you should use things wisely. Millions of
trees are being cut down to make paper. If people uses paper carelessly
and throws it away, soon we will not have any trees left. Other tings are
also being wasted, and people don"t know what to do with waste in big
cities. So it is necessary to reduce waste.
2. ______________
You should always think of reusing usable things before throwing them
out. Give the clothes you do not use or the ones which are too small to
the poor. Within a family, you can pass on such clothes to younger
brothers or sisters.
3. _______________
Bottle, cans and paper can easily be recycled. By doing this we save
lots of time and money. For example, coke cans can be sent to a factory,
where they are smashed flat and melted and the metal can be made for
new coke cans.
When you buy a box of apples, there may be a few rotten apples. So you
have two choices: one is to throw those apples away, or another is to cut
off the rotten parts and use the good parts. In this way, you recover the
eatable parts of the fruit.
5. ______________
If one of the legs of your table is broken, you should repair it instead
of throwing it away. However, if you want to change your furniture, it
is better to sell old things or give them to other people who can use
them after doing some repairs. It is true that North America is a
"throw-away" society, but the time has come to change our way
of life so that we can protect our environment. Every one of us
should try our best.
and can be a lot of fun!
The party people dance on a special dance floor. The floor can produce the electricity for the club
to play music. The more you dance, the more electricity can be produced. Such a dance floor could
produce about 60% of the building"s electricity.
The entry fee is £10, but people who go there by bike, by public transport or on foot can enter for
free. The club is run by a very rich man, Andrew King. Mr. King is also running a new organization called Club Climate (气候). It is working on climate change. He hopes to call on more young people to help to
save the planet.
The club is a new thing for young people. It is also different from other "grown-up" charities. "There
is no greater place than a club to reach out to young people," said Mr. King. "Having a dance floor to
produce electricity is a very exciting and interesting idea."
Besides the floor, scientists say that some people have invented a new kind of clothing that can also
produce electricity. When people wear the clothes, all their movements are changed into electricity.
