We all know the dangers of fires. It"s good and necessary for a family to learn how to prepare for a fire, and here are some suggestions.
Put a smoke alarm in the house. Smoke from a fire causes the alarm to go off. The alarm makes a loud sound. The sound tells everyone to leave the house at once. Make escape plans. We should know all the ways out of the house. If there is a fire, everyone follows the plan to get out. Part of the plan is to check all the windows to make sure they can be opened easily. Buy fire extinguishers(灭火器)in the house. Everyone in the family should know how to use them. Practice for a fire. We do fire practice because we teach children about fire safety. Everyone in the family should know the following fire rules: ★Don"t open a hot door! The fire can grow more quickly if you open the door. ★Stay close to the floor! Smoke can be more dangerous than fire. The best air is near the floor because smoke rises. ★What will you do if your hair or clothes star to burn? First. stop! Don"t run! The fire burns faster because of more air. Drop! Fall to the floor. Then roll! Turning over and over will make the fire go out. Put a blanket around you to keep air away from the fire that may still be on you. There are many possible causes for fires. A wise family is ready all the time. If there is a fire. don"t forget to call 119 for help. 小题1: When a fire happens,_______ if you open the hot door. Amazon. com was one of the first companies to try to sell products on the Internet. Jeff Bezos started the company. He was a successful vice—president of a company in New York. One day he predicted the future. He thought,“The World Wide Web is growing 200 percent a year. It"s going to continue to grow. Shopping is going to move to the Internet. People are going to shop online. ”He gave up his good job and drove across the country to Seattle,Washington. There he started an online bookstore called Amazon. com. Bezos had very little money. The company began in a garage, and at first there were very few people who bought things. At the Amazon. com site, people can search for a book about a subject, find many different books about that subject, read what other people think about the books, order them by credit card, then get them in the mail in two days. This kind of bookstore was a new idea, but the business grew. In a few years,Amazon. com had 10 million different things in categories including books,CDs,toys, electronics, videos,DVDs,things you use to fix up a house, software, and video games. Today you can buy anything from food to gold rings at a“virtual shopping mall”,that is,a group of stores all over the world that works like group of stores all in one place. You probably know you should say “please” and “thank you” at restaurants. You probably know the rules of a library. You know you should respect and be nice to your classmates. But do you have music manners? Keep It Down! You have to notice the volume of your music. You should not play your music so loud that everyone around you can hear it. Some people might even get angry. Usually, when you play the music loud on an MP3 player, other people can’t hear the words of the song. They just hear a loud sound. No one wants to listen to this. Very loud music can also be bad for your ears. So even if you are alone when listening to our MP3 players, you shouldn’t turn it up too high. Take Them Off! You need to know when to turn your MP3 off and put it away. Libraries, and schools don’t allow MP3 players. There are other places, like museums, that don’t have rules, but it would be rude to have your MP3 player on. Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense to listen on your MP3 player at event. Why would you listen to music at a play, a movie or a sporting event? You would miss what is going on and others would wonder why you even came. Take One Out! Once in a while it’s okay just to take out one earphone(耳机)and not the other. Imagine you are listening on your MP3 player when someone asks you the way. It would not be rude to take out one earphone, tell him the way, and put back the earphone and continue listening. You can also do this when you order food at a fast-food restaurant or when you answer the telephone and it’s not for you. 小题1:The underlined word “volume” in Paragraph Two probably means “_______”A.the type of music | B.the amount of a sound | C.the length of a song | D.the colour of an MP3 player | 小题2:If we listen to our MP3 player at a play, ________.A.the theatre won’t allow it | B.the actors will get angry | C.others won’t hear the play well | D.we will miss part of the play | 小题3:It’s all right to use our MP3 player in __________.A.school | B.libraries | C.restaurants | D.museums | 小题4:What can be the best title of this passage? _________________A.Music lovers | B.Music manners | C.MP3 players | D.MP3 earphones |
