Hello, children and parents. Thank you all for coming to this meeting. I"d like to start by confirming (证实) that we will receive some money from the government for our school trip to Indonesia. We will receive about $1,300 per child, and it will reduce the overall (全部) cost to you. Now that we are sure to get the money, it is time to do some serious planning. We are sure that the trip will be very exciting for the children, especially if they have not traveled abroad before. There are many advantages of having some experiences to different places and cultures. Your children will be able to learn a lot about other people and cultures on this trip. Leanne is with us tonight. Leanne, where are you? Put up your hand so that the people can see who you are. Thank you. Leanne went on a trip there with some other students last year and will be happy to tell you of her experiences and answer any questions you might have. We will hear from her a bit later in the meeting. We only have five months to organize the trip. From past experience I can tell you that this time will go very quickly! So we need to start organizing the trip.

Moreover, we are often convinced (使相信) that if we had those things we want so badly, we would finally be happy. The truth is that happiness is an attitude(态度). _________is not something created by outside circumstances(环境), ______ instead is completely within your control. Nothing will give you a deep sense of satisfaction and happiness, unless you cultivate (滋养)happiness consciously. Below are some simple yet specific steps you can take to cultivate happiness. Be grateful. Create a sense of gratitude for what you have, for what is working, for what is wonderful and sweet in your life. A morning or evening gratitude list, written each day, can do wonders for helping you feel grateful. Take care of yourself. Identify(辨别) the small things in life that make you feel good, and do one daily. A short walk, a few minutes of writing in your journal, a short meditation, watching the sunset…whatever, will improve your outlook on life. Read inspirational(励志的) material. It helps to be reminded of positive thoughts and positive attitudes. Get a small book of positive, inspirational thoughts and keep it by your desk. Read one or two thoughts each day. Is the glass half empty or full? Life works better when the glass is half full regardless of your life status. No matter how many wonderful things you do to create a positive, happy, satisfied life, you could still end up unhappy. Ultimately, happiness, gratitude, a feeling of satisfaction is a choice. Both of them have become a necessary part of our daily life, keeping us filled with the news of the day, teaching us in many fields of interest, and making us happy with singing, dancing and acting. Perhaps the most modem invention is "Telstar", a "star" moving round the earth. It makes it possible for the people all over the world to be closer than ever before. If a servant (佣人) passes food around, he will pass the dish to you at your left hand so that you can easily serve yourself with your right hand. Never serve yourself while the dish is on your right; it is then the turn of your neighbor on the right. Do not reach across the table or in front of someone to get something-that is not polite. Ask him or her to pass it to you. There are things in the middle of the table, such as bread, butter and candies. You shouldn"t take any until the hostess tells the servant to pass them to you.
