HIGH-JUMPER and punk(朋克) rocker Kimi Qiao, 22, is very confident. In fact, he"s something of a big mouth about his talent. "No one will ever forget me," said Qiao.
The 2007 My Show winner has recently published Private Life, a photo-book. It records everything about the days when he was young.
As a teenager, he was a keen athlete, training every weekend and holiday. His event (项目) was the high jump and he won a number of national championships. He even shared a coach with Liu Xiang.
However, Qiao"s parents wanted him to concentrate more on his studies and he finally went to a

in a singing contest, where he met Wang Lee-hom. Later, he started a student band called Pink17. He was a drummer. Since then Qiao has known that music will be his life.

A simple and direct "No" is the best way. If you want to explain, you can keep it simple. Just say, "No, I"ve already made plans for this time" or "No, I"m not free at that time."
Other indirect but polite ways of saying no:
● Sorry, I can"t do this right now.
● I"m afraid I can"t, but thank you for asking.
● Please accept (接受) that I cannot come.
● I"d rather not.
To say no you should:
● Start the sentence with the word "No".
● Shake (摇晃) your head when you say no to make sure others understand. Your voice should be clear and direct.
Sometimes it is difficult to say no. You can try to reply and explain in the following way:
"Sorry. I would have taken care of your cat next weekend, but I will be going out. I know it will be hard to find someone to take care of the cat. I will try to help you next time." Remember that: you have the right (权利) to say no!

So far it"s been a great trip. We"ve had one flat, groups of mosquitoes (蚊子) , and not hot showers
for days! Three nights ago a rainstorm hit while we were sleeping in the tent. I woke up floating (漂浮)
on my air mattress (床垫) in four inches of water! We stayed in a motel (汽车旅馆) the next night so
our clothes could dry out, but I think my sleeping bag will stay wet for a long time. The strange thing is that I"m serious when I say it"s a great trip. I miss the city, but I love waking up to the sound of whippoorwills
(夜鹰). Am I crazy?
Mom, Dad, and I reached Kentucky a week ago and headed straight for the land between the
lakes. We found a campsite there and spent two lazy days swimming in Kentucky Lake. Then the
rainstorm hit, and we drove towards Mammoth Cave National Park. We"ve been staying here since
Friday. Yesterday we toured Mammoth Cave, which reminded me of the subway because it had miles
and miles of tunnels(隧道). The cave was uncomfortable, too, but in a different way from the subway.
It was cold and lonely instead of hot and crowded. Some parts were wonderful, though I especially liked
the Star Chamber, where white crystals(水晶) shine brightly on the cave ceiling like stars. I wish you
could have seen it.
See you in two weeks. Maybe by then, my sleeping bag will be dry!
